Basic Patent Information Course (BPIC)
Target Audience
This module is intended for patent information specialists with one year or less of experience in conducting novelty or patentability searches. It is specifically designed for individuals who have recently started working in this field.
Objectives and Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

Work effectively with various patent and non-patent information sources.

Understand key differences between databases in terms of functionality, content coverage, and family structure.

Recognize the options and choices available when selecting and using information sources.

Appreciate the implications of those choices, including their impact on search efficiency and the potential risks involved.

Construct effective search queries, utilizing techniques such as truncation, proximity operators, and filters for assignee, date, and classification
Course Content

Prerequisites
Completion of the earlier BPIC modules is required, as terminology and foundational concepts introduced there will be referenced throughout this course.
